Lee and Jess

Jess, 42, and Lee, 39, have been together for nearly six years, but have known each other for 22 years.

Lee says: "Ironically, we didn't like each other when we first met at college for the blind in Hereford."

They now share a house in Haydock, Merseyside with their guide dogs, Andy and Faith.

Before their big day, Lee wasn't allowed to know about Jess's outfit. On the day, Lee welcomed guests to the ceremony and when everyone had arrived, Jess swept in to the room, wearing a beautiful white dress with purple embroidery and a long train. She also wore a sparkling tiara. Lee wore a very smart dark pin-striped suit with a claret-coloured cravat.

Lee says: "Our guide dogs were also part of the day, wearing dicky bows to match our outfits."

Jess and Lee held the civil partnership ceremony at the Newton Abbott registry office in Devon and a reception at the Cliffden Hotel in Teignmouth, which specialises in catering for blind or partially sighted guests.

They both thoroughly enjoyed the day and shared a lot of tears and laughter with their friends and family.

Lee adds: "Your web site was fantastic, it put us in touch with the photographer we used, David Pullum, and also helped us with facts about the civil partnership and what is needed to organise the big day. What a blind friendly site yours is, and a pleasure to use. You would be surprised how many sites use flash players, and that immediately causes problems for our screen reading software."
