Wedding poems
'A letter to my love'
My fiancé you were, my husband you'll be
I shall try to express, what you mean to me.
Include some details from childhood to teen years
relationship growing pains, struggles and tears.
Throw in some funny's to lighten the lot
and tell you sweet Mark, what I feel I've got.
~~~
A heart wrenching day, when my Mum passed away
and each week without my best-friend in tow.
The months carried on, I tried to be strong
but my feelings had nowhere to go.
~
Still I hung on some more, and through a new door
walked support, love and listener for me.
Never to replace, but your loving embrace
helped the pain relieve far more gently.
My dear Mark Norton, grew up in 'Worton'
then moved to 'Wrea Green' close by.
He D.J'd a place, somewhere outer space
in that white suit he looked kinda 'fly'!
~
Who would have known, he'd engineer the phone . .
. . . and the networks where later we'd meet.
Text and email, good love for sail
at 'Lycos' to make life complete!
~
I plucked up the courage to put a face to the name,
as it had been a couple of months.
So in 'Preston' one day, we met for a drink
down at 'The Water Front'.
~
Our cars side by side, our windows wound down
each of us made ourselves known.
Our pistols away, now so much to say! . . .
away from the damn 'dog and bone'.
~
In 2002, I moved in with you . . .
and Bailey, our much loved boy.
But with voluntary drive-in, no time for a lie-in
or so, for your 'Suburu' toy.
~
Just like the bikes, I think you're cool
even though you love 'Drum and Bass'.
You work hard, you play hard, put up with my mess . . .
. . . and allow me to finish your plaice!
~
Always stayed strong, when so much went wrong
and often abandoned we felt.
But together like gold would, join, if soldered . . .
stay solid, never liquidise - or melt.
~
I have travelled far and wide, with my skills from 'girl guides'
many places round the world I have landed.
But from Shang-hi to Germany, in my heart you have always been . . .
So I never had to do it single handed.
~
Throughout my career, you have always been here
each and every time I took a step.
When I felt I'd not hang on, you made me climb another rung
and soon enough, I hopped and skipped and leapt.
~
We train 5 times a week, and intend to reach our peak . . .
. . . together as a team I know we'll stay.
So please accept this gift, and let us challenge any rift . . .
My love to you my darling for always. . .
