If you have friends and family coming to your gay wedding from London and the Home Counties, Buckinghamshire is a perfect location for your gay wedding. It has excellent transport links to London, Oxford or even Birmingham. The M40 motorway runs along the southern border past Beaconsfield and High Wycombe heading west, whilst the M1 leads to Milton Keynes and the north.

In terms of countryside settings for your civil partnership ceremony, there are the wonderful Chiltern Hills as a backdrop.

If your friends and family want to make a weekend of it, there are many walking tracks including the Ridgeway that runs along the top of Chilterns and passes through the grounds of Chequers, the traditional country residence of the Prime Minister.

A few miles north of Buckingham are Stowe Landscape Gardens, a fine example of an English landscape garden with work by William Kent, Charles Bridgman and Capability Brown.

For a touch of glamour, the jazz composer John Dankworth and singer Cleo Laine, live at Wavendon in Buckinghamshire. Concerts are held throughout the year in the Stables Arts Centre next to their home. If you want to follow in the footsteps of the stars, Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell, in the film Four Weddings and a Funeral, had their first night of passion at the Crown Hotel, Amersham!
